What is Art Therapy?

Also known as Art Psychotherapy, it is a type of therapy that uses art making as the main means to explore and express thoughts and emotions.

I don't interpret images. But we would think together about the process of making your art and the final art object itself-- whatever it is that you make.

The process is different depending on who I am working with and for what reason.  But it is always person-centred and based on what you bring to the session.  If you want to find out more, The British Association of Art Therapists (BAAT) explains more here.

"In the UK, the title art therapist and art psychotherapist are protected by law. All UK art therapists must be state registered with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC)."

Art Therapists are required to also be artists and understand the process of art making, how it relates to the therapy and the client.
